Determining the Design & Scope of Work

Whether it’s finishing off a previously unfinished are of the house, the demolition of existing walls in an older home for an extensive Remodel, or the Addition of some much need rooms to your home…you need to determine the Scope of the Work required to complete your project. This can include providing a Floor Plan and Elevations that represent what you want to accomplish. The type of Remodel and/or Addition you are planning for your home and the extent of the work to be performed will determine what type of Professionals will be required.

Whatever your situation may be, you need to have a complete set of drawings that represent the work to be performed in order to get an accurate estimate for the work. The Drawings should show what is existing, what gets removed, and what is being added? Are there structural issues involved and do the modifications to the load bearing walls need additional headers and supports? Does your Remodeling project require you to update the Electrical, Plumbing, and Heating systems in the existing house to comply with city codes?

Does the design of the new Addition match the Architecture of the existing house or will it look like an “Addition”? Does the new Floor Plan compliment the flow of the existing house or is it just a new room at the end of the hallway?
