Controlling Changes in the Budget

One of the most volatile issues in any Building Project is the impact of Change Orders and their effect on the Construction Financing. Change orders impact a project Directly through credits or additional costs and Indirectly through any changes to the Construction Schedule.

Prairie States Inc utilizes a Contract Manager software that features a Change Management program which tracks, documents, logs, and assigns responsibility of Change Orders. Through the other features in the Contract Manager software, Prairie States Inc tracks all of the issues associated with the project that allows for the early detection of potential cost and time changes to the project. Early detection of any potential changes provides Prairie States Inc the ability to discuss the issues with the Contractor and Subcontractors to either eliminate or minimize the impact issues involved with the change.

Prairie States Inc has the ability through the “Key Word” feature of our Contract Manager software to compile all project communications related to the issue to determine responsibility for the proposed change. The software also provides a process of Budgeted Cost, Estimated Cost, Negotiated Cost, and Final Cost for all Change Management issues.
